ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi has summoned a meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) on 12 July.
The SJC meeting will take up pending complaints and amendments to the rules.
The SJC is responsible for looking after the complaints against the judges of the High Courts and the Supreme Court.
According to sources, new rules regarding the judiciary will also be considered in the meeting.
Earlier, the Judicial Commission approved the names of new Chief Justices for the Islamabad, Peshawar, Sindh, and Balochistan High Courts on Tuesday.
The name of Justice Sarfaraz Dogar has been approved for the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court by the Judicial Commission.
By a majority of 16 to 9, the JCP accepted Justice Sarfaraz Dogar’s appointment as the IHC CJ.
The Judicial Commission has approved the name of Justice Atiq Shah for the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court.
Justice Junaid Ghaffar and Justice Rozi Khan Barich were selected as the Chief Justices for the Sindh and Balochistan High Courts, respectively.
