FAISALABAD: South Africa defeated Pakistan by 8 wickets in the second match of the 3-match ODI series to level the series 1-1.
South Africa easily achieved Pakistan’s target of 270 runs in 40.1 overs for the loss of 2 wickets.
In the match played at the Iqbal Cricket Stadium in Faisalabad, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first against the visiting team South Africa.
Pakistan scored 269 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Salman Agha and Mohammad Nawaz scored 69 and 59 runs.
South Africa blew away the Pakistani top order batsmen.
Opener Fakhar Zaman was dismissed for zero, while Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan returned to the pavilion after scoring 11 and 4 runs.
After the fall of 3 wickets, Salman Ali Agha and Saim Ayub batted responsibly and both batsmen scored half-centuries while establishing a partnership.
However, Saim was dismissed for 53 and Salman Ali Agha for 69 runs, while Hussain Talat left the team with a score of 10.
In the closing overs, Muhammad Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf batted responsibly. Nawaz was dismissed for 59 and Faheem Ashraf for 28 runs.
Pakistan scored 269 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
South Africa easily achieved Pakistan’s target of 270 runs in the 41st over and won by 8 wickets.
For South Africa, Quinton de Kock remained unbeaten on 123 runs, while De Zorzi scored 76.
Apart from this, Mathew Breetzke was unbeaten on 17 runs. For Pakistan, Mohammad Wasim and Faheem Ashraf took one wicket each.
After South Africa’s victory in the second ODI, the three-match series has been leveled at 1-1.
