Three robbers killed in Hafizabad operation

HAFIZABAD: Three robbers were killed in a shootout between the Crime Control Department (CCD) of Punjab and dacoits on Friday, according to media reports.

The deceased robbers were involved in various criminal cases, including dacoity, snatching, murder, attempted murder, and other cases. The shootout was carried out in the jurisdiction of Kassoke Police Station, Hafizabad.

The bodies were shifted to the local hospital for further legal proceedings, and they were identified as Zaigham, Jahangir and Maratib.

Police are conducting further inquiries into the matter.

Earlier, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a constable were shot dead by suspected robbers in Taunsa Sharif here on Tuesday.

The police raided near the Dera Shahpur bridge on a tip-off, when the suspects opened fire. As a result, ASI Ghulam Shabbir and Constable Ghulam Farid, posted at Saddar police station, were seriously injured and died on the spot.

District Police Officer Syed Ali, along with other police officers, reached the spot and ordered the arrest of the suspects.

Police have cordoned off the area to arrest the absconding suspects.

In a statement, the DPO paid tribute to the martyred officers and vowed to bring the culprits to justice.
