Traffic police reforms boost license issuance in Punjab

Lahore driving license offices to remain open during Eid

LAHORE: On the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the process of issuing driving licenses has significantly accelerated across the province.

After the improvement in facilities by the traffic police, driving licenses have been issued to more than 880,000 citizens in just three weeks. The aim of this initiative is to attract citizens towards legal and safe driving.

According to the traffic police spokesperson, more than 310,000 people obtained learning licenses in this short period. Similarly, new regular driving licenses were issued to more than 280,000 citizens. In addition, more than 278,000 people also renewed their learning, regular and international licenses.

According to the data, more than 2,000 citizens were also issued international driving permits. The spokesperson says that more than 25,000 people took advantage of the online licensing portal from home, which is proving to be a great convenience for citizens.

DIG Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir clarified that driving without a license is a crime under the law and strict action is being taken against such people. He said that the increase in the trend of obtaining licenses has led to a significant reduction in traffic accidents, which is a welcome development.
