Earthquake tremors felt in Türkiye–Syria border region

ISLAMABAD: Severe tremors were felt in various areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, including the federal capital.

The citizens came out of their homes in panic, reciting the Kalima Tayyaba.

According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake’s intensity was recorded as 5.4 on the Richter scale, with a depth of 122 kilometers and an epicenter located in the Hindu Kush mountain range. The epicenter of the earthquake was recorded 102 kilometers away from Bajaur.

The tremors were felt in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Haripur, Abbottabad, Charsadda, Swat (Mingora), Hazara divisions, various areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, and the areas of Azad Kashmir such as Hattian Bala, Jhelum Valley, Chinari, and other areas.

The tremors were felt in various areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, including Ghizer, as well as in Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

There were no immediate reports of any loss of life or property from the earthquake, but there was widespread panic among citizens.
