ISLAMABAD: After causing a buzz in Lahore and Punjab, vehicle emission testing arrives finally in Islamabad as government opened new testing points throughout capital, providing oan pportunity to residents to get their vehicles tested for emissions in the midst of crackdown.

Vehicle emission testing has been initiated in capital city in new initiative of Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) and Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in the midst of large-scale drive to reduce city’s air pollution level.

Transport Authority head Irfan Memon launched the testing in new beginning of the cleaner, greener ride to capital officials referred to as. In the new system, vehicles are tested with sophisticated diagnostic equipment to check carbon monoxide (CO) emissions.

Islamabad Vehicle Emission Testing

Vehicles producing 6percent or less of carbon monoxide will be issued scannable digital emission clearance stickers, while those producing in excess of the limit will receive warnings and instructed to make necessary repairs. The rule-breakers will be hit with huge fines, use restrictions, or road bans.

The new campaign relies on real-time digital monitoring systems for smooth working, providing transparency and rapid results.

All two and four-wheelers in Islamabad would be made to undergo emissions testing and would have to show the official clearance sticker. Test timings will be from 9 am onwards.

Authorities are urging car owners to get their cars properly serviced since it makes cars more fuel efficient, keeps them in legal compliance, and assists with the city’s overall climate objectives.
