ISLAMABAD: State Bank of Pakistan Governor Jameel Ahmad explained that the upcoming Eid celebration will not see the release of new currency notes because their printing will start after the federal cabinet gives its consent.
He explained that the launch of new currency notes requires cabinet approval, which means that the new currency design will not enter circulation before the upcoming Eid festival.
The governor also noted that Pakistan maintains its dedication to follow a rigorous monetary policy framework which it established with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He explained that the nation has already paid $6 billion for its international debt obligations, which include both principal and interest payments.
