Afg vs SA: South Africa Beat Afghanistan in second super over thriller

AHMEDABAD: South Africa defeated Afghanistan in the second super over in the ICC T20 World Cup group match.

Afghanistan scored 17 runs in the super over, batting first, and South Africa could score only 17 runs. South Africa scored 23 runs in the second super over, batting first.

In the Group D match being played in Ahmedabad, India, Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan won the toss and invited South Africa to bat first.

Adam Markram and Quinton de Kock opened the innings for South Africa, but Fazal Haq Farooqui caught Markram at a total of 12.

After the fall of an early wicket, de Kock and Rickelton took the innings forward responsibly and did not allow the Afghan bowlers to run a single over, and both players completed their fifties in the same over.

Rickelton was dismissed for 61 and de Kock for 59. Dewald Brewis was dismissed for 23 runs, while David Miller played an innings of 20 runs. For Afghanistan, Azmat Umarzai took 3 and Rashid Khan took 2 wickets.

For Afghanistan, the innings was opened by Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran. At one point, Afghanistan’s position in the match seemed to be strengthening, but due to the dismissal of 5 players in 13 balls, the entire Afghan team was dismissed for 187 runs in the 20th over.

For Afghanistan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a sizzling innings of 87 runs off 42 balls with the help of 7 sixes and 4 fours, while Azmat Umarzai scored 22, and Rashid Khan scored 20 runs. For South Africa, Langi Ngidi took 3 wickets.

It should be noted that Afghanistan had suffered a defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the first match, while South Africa had defeated Canada by 57 runs.
