DHAKA: Bangladesh clinched the three-match T20I series by defeating Pakistan by 8 runs in the second match played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Chasing a modest target of 134, Pakistan were bowled out for 126 under pressure.
The top order suffered a massive collapse as the team lost six wickets for just 33 runs, putting them on the back foot early in the innings.
All-rounder Faheem Ashraf emerged as the visitors’ lone fighter, playing a resilient innings of 51 runs, but his efforts were not enough to take Pakistan across the line.
Notably, seven Pakistani batsmen failed to even reach double figures, reflecting the team’s collective batting failure.
Bangladesh’s bowling attack was clinical, with Sharaful Islam leading the charge with three wickets, while Mehidy Hasan and Tanzeem Hasan Saqib took two wickets each.
Earlier in the match, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Bangladeshi innings struggled, as they were bowled out for 133 in the allotted 20 overs.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Jakir Ali was the standout performer for the hosts, scoring a fine 55 to give Bangladesh a fighting chance.
On the bowling front, Ahmed Daniyal — playing his debut match — and Salman Mirza took two wickets each, helping Pakistan hold Bangladesh to a manageable score.
With the win, Bangladesh have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, marking a crucial series win on home soil.
