Heather Knight to retire from international cricket after Lord’s test against India

LORD: England’s World Cup-winning former captain Heather Knight has announced that she will retire from international cricket after the conclusion of the ongoing one-off Test against India at Lord’s, bringing an end to a remarkable 16-year career.

Knight, England Women’s most-capped international cricketer with 320 appearances, made her debut in 2010 and went on to captain the side in 199 matches. Under her leadership, England lifted the ICC Women’s World Cup in 2017. She also became the first England women’s cricketer to score international centuries in all three formats.

In her farewell Test against India, Knight was dismissed for 13 runs in England’s second innings while chasing a daunting target of 457 at Lord’s. Her final innings ended with a standing ovation from the crowd as India closed in on a historic Test victory.

Across her international career, Knight scored 7,988 runs and registered six international centuries, leaving behind a legacy as one of England’s greatest women’s cricketers.
