India W vs New Zealand W: Kiwis win toss, opt to field first

India W vs New Zealand W: Kiwis win toss, opt to field first

MUMBAI: New Zealand captain Sophie Devine won the toss and chose to bowl first in their crunch match against India in what is a must-win for either team in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup on Thursday, in Navi Mumbai.

Hosts India, losing three on the trot, made a single change, reinstating Jemimah Rodrigues in place of all-rounder Amanjot Kaur.

New Zealand, whose two games were washed out, remains unchanged.

Speaking at the toss, Kaur mentioned, “The pitch is looking really good and I think we have got a great opportunity, today we have added extra batters. So I think it’s a great opportunity to set a decent total on the board. Jemimah is replacing Amanjot.

Sophie Devine estimated the surface would not differ much as she decided to bowl. She stated, “We’re playing the bowl first today. We don’t anticipate the surface changing too much. If anything, hopefully it will improve under lights and perhaps with a little bit of dew coming in.
