DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) is likely to withdraw hosting rights for future major events from India due to the ongoing Indo-Pak tensions.
According to Australian media reports, the ICC has started considering alternative hosts for the 2029 Champions Trophy and the 2031 ODI World Cup scheduled for India.
Various options are being examined, keeping in mind the ongoing political tensions in the region and possible diplomatic issues.
According to the report, Australia can be given the hosting rights for these global events because Australia has successfully hosted major global tournaments before and has modern stadiums and a strong administrative structure.
According to media reports, reservations have also been raised about Bangladesh’s participation in the World Cup in India. In this context, the ICC is looking for alternative venues to avoid possible disruptions in future international events so that any diplomatic or security situation does not affect the holding of the tournament.
It should be remembered that India has hosted several major events in recent years due to its financially strong cricket market; however, following strained relations with neighboring countries, there is now a possibility that these decisions will be reviewed.
