Mitchell Marsh ruled out of Australia’s T20 World Cup opener

NEW DELHI: The Australian team has suffered a major setback before the first match in the ICC T20 World Cup.

According to Australian media, captain Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the first match due to injury and now Steve Smith has been called up to Sri Lanka as a backup in his place.

Australian media say that Mitchell Marsh has suffered a groin injury due to which he has been rested and Travis Head has been given the leadership in his place in the match against Ireland today.

Steve Smith is not part of the World Cup T20 squad, however, Cricket Australia has said that Steve Smith can be included in the team if needed.
