COLOMBO: Pakistan qualified for the Super 8 stage by defeating Namibia by easy runs in the ICC T20 World Cup.
Chasing Pakistan’s target of 200 runs, Namibia’s batting collaspsed and the entire team was dismissed for 97 runs in the 18th over.
For Namibia, Steenkamp scored 23 and Alexander scored 20 runs. For Pakistan, Shadab Khan took 3 wickets for 19 runs. Usman Tariq took 4 wickets for 16 runs.
With this success, the teams of Pakistan and India from Group A reached the Super 8.
Earlier, Pakistan set 200 runs target against Namibia in the crucial match of the ICC T20 World Cup thanks to Sahibzada Farhan’s brilliant century.
He scored his century off 57 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 10 fours. Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub opened the innings for Pakistan, but Saim Ayub was dismissed for 14 runs on 40 runs.
National team captain Salman Ali Agha also lost his wicket after scoring 38 runs off 23 balls, while Khawaja Nafi scored 5 runs.
On the other hand, Sahibzada Farhan scored his first century in the T20 World Cup while batting brilliantly. He scored his century off 57 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 10 fours.
Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat against Namibia in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan has made two key changes for the match: Salman Mirza and Khawaja Nafat are in the batting line-up, while Shaheen Shah Afridi and Abrar Ahmed will remain out.
