RAWALPINDI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has fined the Pakistan team for a slow over-rate in the first match of the Pakistan-Sri Lanka ODI series played in Rawalpindi.

A statement issued by the ICC said that during the match to be held on November 11, the national team reduced the overs by 4 overs in the allotted time, for which the Pakistan team was fined 20 percent of the match fee.

According to the statement, Captain Shaheen Afridi has accepted the punishment imposed regarding the slow over-rate, so there was no need for a formal hearing.

It should be remembered that in the first ODI of the three-match series, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 6 runs after a thrilling contest.

The second match of the series between the national cricket team and Sri Lanka will be played on November 14, while the third and final match will be played on November 16 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
