Pakistan vs Australia: Marsh out injured, Inglis named captain

LAHORE: Australia has suffered a major setback ahead of the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against Pakistan as all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been ruled out of the series due to an ankle injury.

In his absence, wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis has been appointed as the captain of the Australian team for the 3-match ODI series against Pakistan. The series will begin in Rawalpindi on May 30.

According to Cricket Australia, Mitchell Marsh will remain in Perth for further medical examination and treatment. Marsh was in excellent form in the recent IPL season, where he scored 563 runs in 13 matches, and his strike rate was 163.18. His participation in the upcoming white-ball series against Bangladesh is also still uncertain.

Thus, Marsh has joined the big players of Australia who will not be able to participate in the Pakistan series.

Apart from this, fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Mitchell Starc are also not part of the squad. The Australian squad includes Josh Ingles (captain), Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Marnus Labuschagne, Adam Zampa, Matthew Renshaw, and other players.

First ODI Dates Announced

The first ODI between Pakistan and Australia will be played in Rawalpindi on May 30, while the second and third matches will be played in Lahore on June 2 and 4. After this series, the Australian team will tour Bangladesh, where it will participate in the ODI and T20 series.
