PCB postpones further matches of PSL X

PCB grants NOCs to several Pakistani cricketers for overseas leagues

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has postponed the remaining eight matches of the 10th edition of HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL). The decision comes in light of the recent increase in tensions between India and Pakistan.

Yesterday, the PCB announced that the remaining PSL matches would take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), due to concerns regarding the war between India and Pakistan escalating.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has even today suspended the Indian Premier League (IPL) for one week. A BCCI official told the Press Trust of India that it does not look nice that cricket goes on while the country is at war.

In a statement the PCB spokesperson stated that the decision to postpone has been taken according to advice received from the Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif who has kept in view the reckless aggression from India which has reached a point where, rightly, national attention and sentiments are focused on the courageous efforts of the Armed Forces of Pakistan who are bravely fighting against the Indian forces.

The PCB and its players stand united firmly behind the families of the martyrs and our security personnel who are protecting our motherland.

It went on to say that the board appreciates the efforts and support of partners, franchises, participating players, broadcasters, sponsors, and organizers to have thus far delivered the tournament without disruption, however; cricket, while being a source of unity and positivity, must take a respectful pause when our country is dealing with such brazen opposition.

We, at the PCB, also genuinely care about the mental health of our participating players and the feelings of our foreign players, and we respect why their families would want to see them home.
