PSL 11 player retention deadline announced

PSL set for biggest commercial deal in Pakistan Cricket history

KARACHI: The PSL 11 Player Retention deadline has been established as the initial cutoff, which gives franchises little time for their critical decision-making processes.

According to the latest update, each PSL team can retain one player per category until February 3. The auction pool will receive all players because the teams must release them once the retention window ends, which marks the first player auction of the league.

The PSL 11 auction will take place on February 11 as the league shifts from its existing draft system to implement an auction system for the first time. Teams view this season as a total transformation because the competition will expand to eight teams, which will include Hyderabad and Sialkot.

The new recruitment system enables franchises to build their teams through complete team design, which includes both specific abilities and future team development needs. The PSL has announced new player categories for local athletes, which will impact how teams decide to keep players and their draft selection process before the retention deadline.

Shadab Khan (Islamabad United), Shaheen Shah Afridi (Lahore Qalandars), Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi), and Mohammad Rizwan (Multan Sultans) stand as major players within the Platinum category.

The Diamond group features several key performers as well, including Abbas Afridi (Karachi Kings), Abdullah Shafique (Lahore Qalandars), Usama Mir and Iftikhar Ahmed (Multan Sultans), and Saud Shakeel (Quetta Gladiators).

The Gold category, Silver category, and Emerging category have received updates that now showcase multiple upcoming players who are still developing their skills.
