ISLAMABAD: National cricket team’s renowned fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has once again suffered an injury, which has not only put a question mark on his participation in the Big Bash League, but also worried the fans of the national team.
Shaheen Afridi is representing Brisbane Heat in Australia’s Big Bash League, where he suffered an injury while fielding during a match against Adelaide Strikers.
At one point during the match, Shaheen Afridi felt severe pain in his knee while fielding, after which he could not continue playing for some time and limped off the field. Initially, the team management and medical staff provided him with immediate medical assistance, however, the final determination of the nature of the injury will be possible only after an MRI scan.
Sources say that due to this injury, there is a possibility that Shaheen Afridi will be out of the remaining matches of the Big Bash League, however, the final decision will be made in the light of medical reports. No official statement has been issued by the team management yet, but cricket fans are focused on the medical reports.
In the video that went viral on social media, it can be clearly seen that Shaheen Afridi is limping off the ground in pain and is also pointing to his knee with a hand gesture, which is assessing the seriousness of the injury.
It should be noted that Shaheen Shah Afridi has suffered from knee injuries in the past and has been away from cricket for a long time. Pakistan will desperately need a fully fit Shaheen Afridi before next year’s T20 World Cup, in which case his health and fitness are being considered very important for the national team.
Cricket fans pray that Shaheen Afridi recovers soon and once again shows the essence of his lightning-fast bowling on the field.
