ISLAMABAD: South Africa defeated Pakistan by nine wickets in the final of the Legends World Championship thanks to a brilliant performance by legend AB de Villiers.
Chasing a tough target of 196, South Africa completed the chase in just 16.5 overs thanks to a brilliant unbeaten century by de Villiers, who scored an unbeaten 120 off 60 balls. His explosive innings included 12 fours and 7 sixes, to which Pakistan’s bowlers had no answer.
Supporting de Villiers at the other end was JP Duminy, who played a key role by scoring an unbeaten 50 off 28 balls, as the two put on a match-winning partnership to secure the title.
Earlier, Pakistan had scored 195 for 5 in the allotted 20 overs. Sharjeel Khan provided a strong start by playing a brilliant innings of 76 runs while Umar Amin played an innings of 36 runs.
Despite Pakistan’s strong batting efforts, it was not enough to stop the South African team led by its experienced stars.
