NEW YORK: Tech giant Apple is reportedly preparing to unveil its first-ever foldable iPhone in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series, according to recent leaks.
The foldable device is expected to be introduced as an “Ultra” model, marking Apple’s entry into the premium foldable smartphone segment. Reports suggest the phone will feature a book-style folding design, with a 5.5-inch outer display and a larger 7.8-inch internal screen when unfolded.
Leaks indicate that Apple is testing ultra-thin glass and liquid-metal components to enhance durability, while some parts may be 3D-printed to improve flexibility and strength. The device is also expected to be remarkably slim, measuring around 4.5 to 4.8mm when unfolded and approximately 9.6mm when folded.
The foldable iPhone is likely to be powered by Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro chip and may include a 5,500mAh battery. Its camera setup is expected to resemble the iPhone Air design, potentially featuring a dual-camera system along with a microphone and flash.
Analysts believe the new device could significantly transform the iPhone experience, offering enhanced capabilities for video viewing, gaming, and multitasking. If the leaks prove accurate, the foldable iPhone could mark a major shift in Apple’s smartphone design strategy.
