NEW YORK: Meta stated on Monday that it will explore new subscription options for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp.
According to TechCrunch, these subscription plans will unlock exclusive features for productivity, creativity, and AI, but the core app experiences will remain free.
The tech behemoth intends to provide a “premium experience” that grants users more control. A big component of this push is “Manus,” an AI agent Meta recently purchased for a whopping $2 billion.
The company intends to integrate Manus directly into its goods.
Meta will also test subscriptions for “Vibes,” an AI video generator. While Vibes is now free, the new model may require users to pay a monthly fee to unlock additional chances.
Instagram’s planned new subscription service, as revealed by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, is expected to provide extremely desirable features for common users.
These capabilities apparently include the ability to see who isn’t following you back and the opportunity to peruse Stories anonymously without notifying the original poster.
This new option for everyday users differs from the present “Meta Verified” scheme, which is geared toward creators and businesses.
Meta intends to emulate Snapchat+’s popularity, which has expanded to over 16 million subscribers. However, the corporation faces the issue of “subscription fatigue” as it asks people to pay for yet another service.
The social media giant says it will listen to user feedback when it launches these tests in the coming months.
