CALIFORNIA: In a recent technological development, Instagram has given its users a chance to reflect upon the past year with the sharing of a collage of their favorite moments.
The feature is designed to let users combine multiple images from one year into one story, thus highlighting some select pictures in a highly personal way. It will be there from the first week of January.
Previously, users of Instagram were forced to resize and arrange images in a story in fluid collage style by mere manual intervention, some as stickers.
In fact, Instagram has now made things easier by enabling a storyboard that users can spice up with their own stories. Also, Instagram’s layouts can be used to show multiple photos in a grid, but this update takes it a notch further-in a smooth, more user-friendly way.
Besides collage, Instagram is also offering some temporary year-end updates. These include the “Add Yours” templates that let users create story prompts and encourage friends to reply with related posts.
This is aimed at generating some engagement and community building among users. On top of that, Instagram has brought in new “New Year” and “Countdown” text effects, which could add festive flavor for its users who will celebrate this transition into 2024.
For the season of cheer, Instagram also provides its own festive chat backgrounds for DMs, as well as some secret phrases such as “Happy New Year,” which will trigger unique effects in DMs and notes. An update will enrich the user’s interactive experience around that special time of the season by celebrating the holiday festivities and ushering in the New Year.
