Instagram Testing ‘Secret Story Viewing’ Feature in Paid Tier

Instagram has created new interface to help users

NEW YORK: Instagram is testing a new paid subscription service that will allow users to view Stories without their names appearing in the viewer list, according to recent reports.

The feature, part of a proposed “Instagram Plus” tier by parent company Meta, is currently being tested in select countries, including the Philippines and Mexico.

One of the most notable features of the subscription service is “Stories Preview,” which enables users to watch Stories anonymously. This means viewers can see content without notifying the person who posted it.

In addition to anonymous viewing, the paid tier is expected to offer extended Story duration, allowing subscribers to post Stories that remain visible for up to 48 hours instead of the standard 24 hours.

Meta has confirmed that the new subscription model will include several exclusive features not available in the free version of the app, as the company explores new ways to expand revenue streams.

The development reflects a broader trend among social media platforms toward premium services, offering enhanced privacy and customization options to paying users.
