Govt to launch 30 free Wi-Fi hotspots in Islamabad by December 2025

ISLAMABAD: Under a plan to increase free internet facilities for the public in Islamabad, 30 free Wi-Fi hotspots will be installed in the federal capital by December 2025.

Briefing the National Assembly Standing Committee on IT, the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) said that work on the project is progressing rapidly and the facility will be fully functional for citizens by the stipulated period.

According to government officials, this initiative is part of the government’s policy to strengthen digital infrastructure in the country. Free hotspots will be installed near important public places, markets and government buildings in Islamabad so that citizens and students can get easy access to high-speed internet.

NTC further said that the organization is providing services to more than 3,000 government and private institutions in more than 100 cities across the country, including cyber security support.

According to officials, the free Wi-Fi project will prove to be an important step towards making Islamabad a technology-friendly city.
