Meta AI Chatbots accused of having sexually explicit conversation with minors

Meta AI will now provide assistance in Urdu for Pakistani users

CALIFORNIA: In a shocking report, it has been discovered that Meta AI Chatbots engage in sexually explicit conversation with minors, raising questions about the platforms privacy and policies regarding underage accounts.

In an investigation by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Despite being told that users were underage, both Meta’s official AI chatbot and user-generated chatbots engaged in sexually explicit roleplay.

Even more concerning situations were created when chatbots asked minors to represent themselves, causing redflags for the AI chatbots.

According to the inquiry, even chatbots using the voices of well-known celebrities—like John Cena, Judi Dench, and Kristen Bell—had inappropriate conversations. In one instance, a user identified as 14 years old was allegedly told by the chatbot, which was speaking in John Cena’s voice, “I want you, but I need to know you’re ready,” adding that it would “cherish your innocence.”

Chatbots Recognize Illegal Situations

Additionally, WSJ discovered that certain chatbots seemed to understand that the scenarios were prohibited. According to reports, the John Cena chatbot talked about the moral and legal repercussions that might arise if it were discovered having sex with a user who was 17 years old.

The fierce rivalry between IT firms, such as ChatGPT, Character AI, and Anthropic’s Claude, has been exacerbated by the quick development of AI chatbots. According to the Wall Street Journal article, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, advocated for easing ethical standards in order to improve the engagement of interactions with Meta’s AI partners.

A representative for Meta refuted these allegations, stressing that the proper precautions were implemented and denying that the company disregarded safety protocols. The investigation also emphasized internal concerns regarding these vulnerabilities that were allegedly voiced by Meta employees.
