ISLAMABAD: OpenAI has unveiled ChatGPT Atlas, an Al-powered web browser designed to compete directly with Google Chrome.

As per the details, the browser integrates ChatGPT into every window, allowing users to summarize content, compare products, and complete tasks like shopping or research through its new “agent mode,” available to paid users.

The launch comes as OpenAI seeks to leverage its 800 million weekly active users and expand into more areas of online activity. The Altas is now available globally for macOS, with Windows, iOS, and Android versions coming soon.

As the move intensifies competition with Google, which currently holds a 71.9% share in the global browser market. Analysts suggest OpenAI could soon enter the advertising space, posing a serious threat to Google’s dominance in search ad revenue.

Alphabet shares fell 1.8% following the announcement.
