Electro-Optical EO-1

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has achieved a significant breakthrough in space technology.

SUPARCO, the national space agency, has announced the launch of the country’s indigenous satellite, Electro-Optical (EO-1), on January 17.

The satellite will launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre (JSLC) in China.

The agency’s spokesperson said that the locally built EO-1 satellite is a major step towards space innovation, strengthening Pakistan’s space program.

The launch of Electro-Optical One is expected to pave the way for further advancements in scientific research and national development, he added.

The EO-1 satellite was designed with advanced capabilities to help in disaster response and agriculture by enabling precision farming for improved yield and resource management.

It will also assist in urban planning by tracking infrastructure growth, managing urban sprawl, and aiding city and regional planning efforts.

The Suparco spokesperson further said that the EO-1 will enhance the monitoring of natural resources across the country and address food security and water scarcity.
