ISLAMABAD: It has been decided to introduce satellite internet service to promote digital development in Punjab.

According to Senator Anusha Rehman, leader of the Muslim League (N) and senior advisor to the Chief Minister of Punjab, the aim of this initiative is to ensure the provision of high-speed internet to the backward areas of the province.

During a leadership summit held at a private university in Lahore, a detailed discussion was held on blockchain technology and digital assets. Speaking on the occasion, Anusha Rehman said that better connectivity will be provided to villages, educational institutions and hospitals through satellite internet.

She said that although there is a tendency to use digital technology among the people, lack of facilities is a major obstacle. To solve this problem, a special campaign called “Connect the Unconnected” is being launched.

Anusha Rehman said that internet service through satellite will be launched at the government level soon, while the IT department is working on modern connectivity projects.

He further said that a target has also been set to connect 6 million youth with modern technology in the next four years.
