ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has made it mandatory for all SIMs to be registered in the user’s own name.
The PTA statement said that using a SIM registered in someone else’s name is a violation of the law, and the full responsibility for misuse of the SIM will lie with the registered user.
According to the PTA, users will be responsible for the use of their SIMs and telecom connections. It is also mandatory to comply with the regulations on the use of calls, messages and data, and legal action can be taken in case of violation.
The PTA says that users should play an effective role in protecting and stabilizing the communication system through responsible behavior.
