ISLAMABAD: One of the most popular messaging services, WhatsApp, experienced issues where people could not access the app or send messages, according to data provided by the outage-tracking website Downdetector.
According to the activity chart provided by Downdetector, a significant number of reports of issues were received within the last 24 hours, exceeding the normal baseline level of reports on the platform.
It Also Tracks User-Reported Complaints and alerts on an Incident if there is an unusually high rise in user complaints above the ordinary Complaint Level at the ordinary Time of Day.
Based on the information provided by the data collected, a majority of the complaints involved issues concerning the WhatsApp application itself, which comprised 59 percent.
There was also a concern about sending messages that comprised 24 percent. The remaining 18 percent was about the server connection.
As observed by Downdetector, there may be reported issues throughout the day, but a sudden spike reportedly indicates a service problem rather than a problem with the users themselves.
However, there was no official comment from WhatsApp or its parent firm, Meta, concerning the reason for the outage and how long it would take to fix the problem and fully resume services.
Social media networks were abuzz with messages from outraged customers complaining about messages being late in delivery or not being sent at all, while others experienced problems accessing the app.
Downdetector reported that it is keeping the status under observation based on the reported trends of the users.
