X likely to be banned in UK

Twitter introduces new restrictions for unverified users

LONDON: Elon Musk-owned social media platform X is facing severe criticism and a possible ban in the UK.

Elon Musk-owned social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has come under severe criticism and a possible ban in the UK. Serious allegations have been made about an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot linked to the platform that altered images of women and children in an indecent manner.

British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer reacted strongly to the matter and described the deepfake content circulating on social media as extremely disgusting and intolerable.

He said that digital platforms must take full responsibility for the protection of children and women. And no negligence will be tolerated in this matter.

According to government sources, legal action is being considered against social media platform X under online safety laws implemented in the UK. If the investigation proves that the platform has failed to stop harmful content. Then it can be heavily fined or banned.

Digital rights experts have warned that the misuse of AI technology poses serious threats to privacy, human dignity and fundamental rights, while deepfake content involving children should be treated as a serious crime.
