ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain and hail in various parts of the country, including the twin cities.
The Meteorological Department has issued an emergency rain alert for Rawalpindi, Islamabad and the Potohar region. According to the alert, there is a strong possibility of heavy rain, thunderstorm and hail in the twin cities during the next 2 to 3 hours.
Officials have warned that lightning strikes may also occur at some places in Rawalpindi.
According to the Meteorological Department report, this series of rain and thunderstorms will not be limited to the twin cities only, but clouds will also rain heavily in Murree, Galyat, Kashmir, Attock and Haripur.
In addition, hail has also been predicted in Gujar Khan, Swabi, Mardan and Gilgit-Baltistan. Rain has also been forecast in Swat, Mansehra, Peshawar, Kalam, Dir, Chitral and Kohistan, which is expected to bring a significant drop in temperature.
In view of the uncertain and possible deterioration of the weather, the Meteorological Department has instructed citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and take all precautionary measures to avoid any untoward incident.
