KARACHI: Heavy rainfall on Saturday eve drubbed lower Sindh districts, including cities such as Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Hyderabad, which were hit by extensive power outages.
Rain accompanied by dust and thunderstorms across Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Kotri, Tando Allahyar, Thatta, Sujawal, and other regions. The rainfall tripped 140 feeders in Hyderabad, causing power outages throughout the city.
Multiple rooftop and wall collapses occurred, and solar panels fell, with casualties. Reports indicate one casualty and eight other injuries, four of which were children, from various weather incidents.
In municipalities like Tando Allahyar and Tando Muhammad Khan, power remained off residents were left in the dark due to a disrupted electric supply. High-speed winds in Jhimpir, Thatta districts, caused several mud huts to catch fire, which damaged three motorbikes and other property.
In Sujawal district Daro and surrounding area, windstorm damaged a number of houses making roofs debris with, several left injuries totalling four.
The injured were reportedly taken to the Rural Health Centre Daro by rescue officials. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department suggested there could be rain in Karachi on May 5.
