Karachi weather forecast: PMD forecasts heavy rainfall in next 24 hours

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that Karachi will experience cloudy skies, drizzle, and light rain over the next 24 hours, following light rain early this morning.

Whereas, the city’s minimum temperature is recorded at 28°C, with a forecasted maximum ranging from 30°C to 32°C.

PMD noted that winds are blowing at 23 kilometers per hour with 74% humidity, and light rain or drizzle is possible in Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, and Badin.

The Met Office also predicts rainfall across various parts of the country, including Islamabad, with some areas potentially experiencing heavy downpours.

Moreover, Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz indicated that monsoon winds are expected to enter lower Sindh from August 16, which may lead to rain in Karachi between August 17 and 19.

He forecasted mostly moderate rain with thundershowers for Karachi, with the possibility of heavy rain in some areas.

Additionally, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning of potential urban flooding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa until August 18 due to expected heavy rains in the province.
