KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said in its latest weather forecast that the port city has been hot for the past few weeks and the temperature is not expected to decrease in the coming days.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in Karachi is likely to remain extremely hot for the next 4 to 5 days, the mercury is likely to go up to 39 degrees Celsius.

PMD said on Sunday that hot and dry conditions will remain in most parts of Sindh including Thatta, Sujawal, Umarkot and Tharparkar during the said period.

The Department of Meteorology says that Karachi and various other cities are in the grip of extreme heat due to the continental wind blowing over most parts of the country.

In the weekly forecast, the Meteorological Department has predicted the arrival of a westerly wave in the upper reaches of the county from October 22 (Tuesday).

The weather will remain dry in most parts of the country for the entire week till October 26.

However, on October 23 and 24, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are expected to remain partly cloudy with rain and thundershowers.

Meanwhile, the hilly areas are expected to be cold for the rest of the week.
