PMD forecasts cold, dry conditions nationwide
ISLAMABAD: The weather is likely to remain cold and dry in most parts of the country, while severe cold is expected in the hilly areas during the morning and night hours.
Moderate to severe fog is expected in the plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh during the morning and night hours.
According to the Meteorological Department, during the last 24 hours, rain with thundershowers was recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, upper and central Punjab, Kashmir, and northern Balochistan, while snowfall was recorded in the hilly areas.
According to the data, the highest rainfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was recorded in Upper Dir at 28 mm and in Lower Dir at 21 mm. Kakul received 25 mm of rain, Balakot 20 mm, Parachinar and Cherat 16 mm, Drosh and Takhtbai 12 mm of rain, while Bacha Khan Airport received 11 mm of rain.
In Punjab, rainfall ranging from 21 to 10 mm was recorded in various areas of Islamabad, while 8 mm was recorded in Sahiwal and light rain in other cities.
In Kashmir, 21 mm of rainfall was recorded in Garhi Dupatta, while 4 mm of rainfall was recorded in Samangli and Quetta in Balochistan. Regarding snowfall, 14 inches of snowfall was recorded in Malam Jabba, 4 inches in Kalam and Murree, and 2 inches in Ziarat.
In terms of minimum temperature, minus 7 degrees Celsius was recorded in Leh, minus 5 in Kalat, and minus 3 degrees Celsius in Gopis and Malam Jabba.
The Meteorological Department has directed citizens to take precautionary measures due to cold weather and fog, especially while being advised to be careful while traveling.
