Rain continues in Islamabad as Met Office forecasts more showers

ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has made an important forecast regarding rain.

Intermittent rain has been continuing in the federal capital since late night, and thundershowers and hail are likely in Islamabad today as well.

Due to rain, the temperature in the federal capital has decreased in the evening and night hours, with the temperature recorded at 23 degrees Celsius in the morning.

The temperature is likely to reach 36 degrees Celsius during the day, and winds are expected to blow at a speed of 12 kilometers per hour throughout the day in Islamabad.

The NDMA has issued a rain and hail alert from April 18 to 23, and snowfall is also likely at various places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the NDMA alert, rain and hail are expected in upper and central Punjab on April 18 and 19, while light rain has been predicted at a few places in southern Punjab from April 18 to 23.

Rain is likely to occur in Gwadar and coastal areas on April 19, 20 and 23, while in Sindh, Khairpur, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Umarkot, Mithi, Badin, Karachi are likely to receive rain on April 19 and 20.

Daytime temperatures are expected to be above normal in several districts of Sindh, while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chitral, Dir, Malakand, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Bannu, Buner, Peshawar, and most districts are expected to receive rain, while snowfall is also expected at some places in the upper and mountainous areas.

NDMA has warned that the rain may damage weak structures, trees and electrical installations, and there is a possibility of traffic flow being affected due to slippery roads.

Earlier, the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains from April 16 to 18, there is a risk of landslides in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, there is a risk of increased water flow in local rivers. According to the Meteorological Department, the rains will continue for 2 to 3 days, and rains will also continue in Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and KPK.
