Weather alert: PMD warns of heavy rainfall across country

Rain forecast for upper Pakistan, heatwave to persist in South

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) in a severe weather warning issued a caution against heavy to very heavy rain and flash flooding in some parts of the nation on July 09 and 10.

Met Office has issued a warning against flooding in some regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, Kashmir, and Baluchistan on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) in an advisory issued advisory against flash flooding in rain drains and local streams in Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, D.G. Khan, Kashmir, and Baluchistan’s Barkhan, Kohlu, Musakhel, Dera Bugti, Naseer Abad, Sibi, Loralai, Zhob, Qalat, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Awaran, Panjgur, and Turbat districts.

PMD has alerted that rain and downpour may trigger landslides in KP districts, Murree, Galliya, and Kashmir, creating roadblocks and obstructions in the flow of traffic.

The low-lying places in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera, and Peshawar are feared to be submerged due to heavy rain, as per the Met Office.

Karachi weather

Met Office has predicted drizzle in Karachi and other parts of Sindh’s coastal belt during the next few days.

The weather will be cloudy with a suspended sea breeze. The high humidity ratio of around 79 percent will increase the feel-like temperature in the city.
