Another deadly tank incident hits Indian Army

NEW DELHI: The professionalism of the Indian Army has once again been exposed during a training exercise in the Sri Ganganagar district of the Indian state of Rajasthan.

According to Indian media, an armored tank sank while trying to cross the Indira Gandhi Canal during the exercise, killing one soldier and injuring two others.

According to the police, the tank suddenly lost its balance and sank into the water within a few moments. At that time, there were two soldiers inside the tank, one of whom managed to save his life, while the other could not get out.

Police, State Disaster Response Force and Civil Defense teams continued the rescue operation for several hours to save the soldier, but his body was later recovered.

The identity of the deceased soldier has not been revealed by the Indian Army yet.

It should be noted that in June last year, five Indian Army officers drowned when a tank fell into a river in the Ladakh region, while in October 2022, two officers were killed and one was seriously injured when a tank exploded during a firing exercise.

These incidents have raised serious questions about the professionalism of the Indian Army and the safety arrangements during training exercises.
