UTTARKASHI: A total of five people died and two others were injured as an Indian helicopter crashed in the Gangnani area of Uttarkashi district on Thursday morning, according to officials.
The helicopter fled from the Sahastradhara helipad and was en route to Kharsali when the incident happened, The chopper was piloted by Captain Robin Singh.
The Total passenger were comprising of six, comprising four men and two women.
“Extremely sad news”, said the Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, expressing deep sorrow over the losses.
“The administration has been directed to provide all possible assistance to the injured and investigate the incident. I am in constant touch with the authorities in this regard, and every situation is being monitored,” the chief minister said on X.
The injured were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. Authorities are yet to determine the cause of the crash.
He stated that personnel from the district administration and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were sent to the collision scene right once to conduct rescue and relief efforts.
The victims’ names have not yet been formally made public. Authorities have started a preliminary inquiry into the crash’s cause and are still working on rescue operations.
