TEHRAN: Iran has announced it will offer a special 10-day visa for free to Pakistani nationals on the occasion of the death of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Under the arrangement, Pakistani travelers will not receive visa-free entry, but Iran is expected to waive the normal visa fee for eligible applicants.
The applicants will have to apply online for the visa and get it before they plan their trip. The applicant will be given a special entry in the Iran eVisa system for mourning and funeral at the usual rate for an Iranian visa application to make it exempt.
Special 10-day free visas in Iran
It should be clear that the Iranians are handling these applications using the eVisa system with Iran, where the user has to select the special entry visa type, and he/she travels for the purpose of attending funerals or showing mourning.
According to recent reports, the special process used has been adopted in the latest case where Iran plans to host thousands of foreign dignitaries and mourners who will attend the funeral of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

What documents do Pakistani travelers require?
As per reports, the Pakistani applicants need to upload:
- CNIC copy
- Employment card, business card, or student card (if applicable)
- Recent photograph in passport size on a white background
- Passport information page
- Passport valid for at least six months
Moreover, they should provide a clear reason for traveling to Iran in order to get their visa processed in time. As per normal Iranian eVisa requirements, a passport valid for at least six months is one of them.
