Lufthansa cancels 800 flights amid strike, over 100,000 passengers affected

MANCHESTER: UK-based Lufthansa has cancelled nearly 800 flights due to a strike, leaving more than 100,000 passengers stranded at various airports.

Pilots and cabin crew in Germany have called a 24-hour strike over pay and pension increases, severely disrupting air operations.

According to British media, the strike has caused severe disruption to flights to and from major hubs such as Frankfurt and Munich, with hundreds of flights cancelled.

Passengers have been left waiting for alternative travel arrangements, while many have had to change their travel plans.

Lufthansa management has expressed regret over the difficulties faced by passengers and said that normal flight schedules are expected to resume. The airline has also offered affected passengers the option of rebooking flights or a full refund.

The company’s labour relations director, Michael Nggemann, said that constructive negotiations are needed rather than escalating the situation.

According to them, the strike not only affects the future prospects of employees but above all causes difficulties for passengers.
