ISLAMABAD: A powerful earthquake struck Bangladesh on Friday morning, killing at least three people and injuring several others.
According to police and health officials, the earthquake caused panic in various areas.
According to the US Geological Survey, the 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Narsingdi, about 33 kilometers from the capital Dhaka, at 10:38 a.m. local time.
Tremors were also felt in nearby cities, including Dhaka, where residents came out of buildings.
According to authorities, rescue operations are underway and the injured are being shifted to hospitals.
There were no immediate reports of damage to any major structures after the earthquake, but local authorities have sent teams to assess the affected areas.
