WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump made a series of striking remarks during a recent media interaction, simultaneously extending warm words towards Pakistan and issuing a strong warning to Iran.
Speaking to media persons on Wednesday, Trump expressed his fondness for Pakistan, declaring, “I love Pakistan.”
He further stated, “I like Pakistan. Pakistanis are very good people.” The former president also acknowledged Pakistan’s strategic significance, referring to it as an “important nuclear power.”
In contrast to his praise for Pakistan, Trump adopted a hardline tone on Iran. He warned the Iranian leadership of impending consequences, suggesting that Iran may face heightened challenges if it continues to avoid meaningful negotiations.
“I want to make it clear to Iran: tough times lie ahead,” Trump asserted.
He criticized Iran for what he termed as unnecessary delays in diplomacy, saying, “Iran wasted a lot of time in talks.”
Trump revealed that his administration had given Iran a 60-day window for engagement.
“Now it’s too late,” he said, implying that Iran had squandered the opportunity.
The president cautioned that Iran may face even greater difficulties in the coming days and hinted at a possible military escalation.
Trump also claimed that Israel had effectively dismantled Iran’s defense capabilities, stating, “We have eliminated Iran’s defensive strength.”
Calling for a decisive end to hostilities, he urged, “Iran must surrender unconditionally.”
