KARACHI: The United States of America has issued an advisory alert for its citizens and staff in Karachi to exercise caution in the port city.
The US consulates urged their citizen to avoid going to crowded places and to halt unnecessary visits within the city.
“The U.S. Consulate General Karachi received a report of a threat directed at high-end hotels in Karachi. In response to such threats, the U.S. Embassy and Consulates sometimes place areas such as tourist attractions, hotels, markets, shopping malls, and restaurants off-limits to official U.S. government personnel,” the U.S. Consulate said in a security alert.
“The U.S. Consulate General in Karachi has temporarily limited visits by official U.S. government personnel to these hotels.”
It has urged its nationals to stay out of crowds, remain mindful of their surroundings, and maintain a low profile. “Remain vigilant in areas that tourists and Westerners frequent,” it further stated.
