Video emerges of Libyan Army Chief’s fatal plane crash in Turkey

ISLAMABAD: A video of the crash of Libyan Army Chief Mohamed Ali Ahmed Al-Haddad’s plane has surfaced.

A video that has gone viral on social media shows the private plane carrying the Libyan army chief crashing in Turkey’s Himana district.

The footage shows the Falcon 50 business jet crashing about 70 kilometers south of Ankara near the Kesik Kavak area of ​​​​Hemana, about 70 kilometers south of Ankara.

According to Libyan authorities, the army chief, along with 4 other military officers, died in the plane crash while en route to Tripoli from Esenboga Airport in Ankara.

The deceased include General Al-Fitouri Gharibel (Chief of Land Forces), Brigadier General Mahmoud Al-Qatawi (Head of Military Manufacturing Authority), Mohamed Al-Assawi Diab (Advisor to the Chief of Staff) and Mohamed Omar Ahmed Mahjoub (Military Photographer attached to the Office of the Chief of Staff).

General Al-Haddad was the top military commander in western Libya, playing a key role in the UN-led efforts to unify Libya’s divided army.
