ISLAMABAD: Changan Pakistan has temporarily suspended vehicle bookings, invoicing, dispatches and deliveries from July 1 to July 15 as the company undertakes an upgrade of its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, a move that has sparked concerns among customers already facing delivery delays.
As stated by the firm, the ERP system controls many important business functions such as customer bookings, vehicle manufacturing, inventory management, billing and delivery of cars, and operations at the dealerships.
The update will help enhance efficiency in the future.
The temporary suspension, on the other hand, has increased the frustration of customers who say that they have faced delays even before the expected time of deliveries.
Customers stated that they were assured about their vehicles being delivered within 60 days, but they found out that production had not even started yet. Some others claimed that the dealership personnel became unresponsive when asked repeatedly about the status of their bookings.
Even though there are complaints from the side of the customers, Changan Pakistan has explained that none of the bookings have been canceled. The temporary suspension is only regarding invoicing, dispatch, and delivery during the ERP system upgrade. But it has been noted by some industry experts that the temporary stoppage may add to the delay in the delivery of cars.
Changan Pakistan has advised customers to keep in touch with their respective dealerships for updates on the schedule of delivery of cars.
