BISP launches Nashonuma Program for mothers and their kids

Unmarried women can now get financial support from BISP

KARACHI: Through the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), the Nashonuma Program has been officially inaugurated, which is aimed at enhancing the well-being of mothers and infants.

The main objective of this initiative is to supply the mothers-to-be, women who are lactating, and kids who are not more than two years old, with cash assistance and foodstuffs that are rich in nutrients, thereby securing the healthy development of both the mother and the child.

It has been pointed out by the authorities that only the female population that is already registered with BISP will be the ones enjoying the Nashonuma Program.

The program is limited to the girls who are to be born, the breastfeeding mothers, and the infants aged up to 23 months. The overall aim is to ensure that children get to develop in a better way from the very beginning of their lives, and women’s health is improved.

Registration Process

As for the registration process, it has been made clear that the candidates can go to the Nashonuma Centers that are situated in the corresponding Tehsil or District Headquarters Hospitals and do the registration.

A national identity card issued by NADRA, a B-form for the child, and an immunization card are required for registration to facilitate proper identification of the rightful beneficiaries.

In the financial assistance, pregnant women will get Rs. 2,500 every three months. If at the time of delivery a boy is born, Rs. 2,500 will be given, and if it is a girl, then the amount will be Rs. 3,00,0 which will consist of Rs. 500 for travel expenses.

This financial backing will be continued in stages until the child is two years old. Moreover, mothers and little ones who are part of the Nashonuma Program will be given nutrient-dense food that will be helpful in their physical and mental development.

It has been specified by the officials that the provision of this cash and food is distinctly apart from the usual allowance that is given under BISP.
