Chicken prices receive significant hike in Karachi, Check new rates inside

KARACHI: In a recent update, Chicken prices in Karachi have increased significantly up to Rs740 per kilogram making it harder to prepare meals for the masses.

According to the reports, shopkeepers have been selling chicken on various rate across the province. The spike has taken a toll on the budgets of many families who now can hardly afford this staple protein.

In the past, chicken prices were fixated at Rs635 per kg by the Karachi commissioner, but this price control method has frustrated the free-market operations.

Shopkeepers also attributed the high price of chicken to consumption versus demand which has forced the price to rise. Within three days, chicken prices in Karachi have undergone an exorbitant hike from Rs300 to the R750 mark.

This shock in pricing caught many consumers unprepared, and it is yet to be seen if corrective measures will be taken by the authorities to stabilize the market and provide relief to the affected masses.
